Speech and language therapy

The Speech and Language Therapy Department in Wiltshire has both Adult and Children’s Services. It provides assessment, advice and intervention for clients with a wide range of communication needs. It also offers training and support to families, carers and other professionals.

Communication needs include the following:

  • Difficulties understanding & using language
  • Difficulties with talking clearly
  • Difficulties with feeding, chewing or swallowing
  • Stammering
  • A voice problem
  • Interaction difficulties
  • Neurological disorders such as Parkinson’s disease
  • Head injury
  • Hearing loss and deafness
  • Cleft Lip/Palate
  • Dementia
  • A stroke
  • Learning/Physical disabilities

We aim to work in the most appropriate location to meet the service users’ needs, for example in children’s centres, schools, hospitals, nurseries and health settings.

We also operate a speech and language advice line:
